Steve Chapman's three and a half years as manager comes to an end as he steps aside with Paul Gross taking over for season 2014/15. Steve has seen the team improving each year with 11th, 8th and 7th final placings. This season the club entered the FA Cup for the first time and reached the semi-final of the London Senior Cup with some notable scalps and second round proper of the FA Vase.

The Millers opened their 2013/14 campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Oakley Road. Tunde Aderonmu scored the first goal of the season in the newly named Southern Counties East Football League after 9 minutes and late strikes by Adam Gross and Adam Marsh, on their competitive debuts, gave Cray the perfect start to the new season.
Manager Steve Chapman gave debuts to Keeper Bobby Sturgeon, defenders Alan Matthews and Adam Gross, mid-fielders Michael Mckenna, Jamie Wood, Daryl Wheeler and forwards Adam Marsh and Lewis Wood in a new look side following the departures of six players to Erith and Belvedere over the Summer. Laurent Hamaci missed out due to a one game suspension carried over from last term.
The visitors started brightly and pressed the ‘Dalers’ goal from the kick off. A series of corners excellently delivered by Gross created havoc and only poor finishing prevented Cray going ahead before they did. The opening goal was largely as a result of slack defending from the home side. Millers' Captain Jamie Wood was quick to seize on a loose ball and found his brother Lewis unmarked in the box. Lew Wood's shot was well saved by Keeper Alex Hyde but the ball fell straight to the feet of Aderonmu who cooly slotted home from 10 yards. Further opportunities were created as Cray dominated the early exchanges and both Lewis Wood and Mckenna were unlucky not to score when their strikes narrowly missed the target. Skipper Jamie Wood picked up the first booking of the season following a heated exchange with Francis Bababula late in the first half as Cray went into the break a goal up.
As expected the home side stepped up their game after the interval and were unlucky not to level the scores when the otherwise impressive Kiran Dingri headed against his own crossbar. Cray's defence looked solid though and the new pairing of Joe Matthews and Steve Springett as centre backs dealt with any threat the home strikers had to offer. As legs started to tire Chapman introduced substitutes Dan Gunner and Daryl Wheeler, and with fresh legs on the park the Millers started to regain the initiative. In the 75th minute Lew Wood was cynically fouled as he headed goalwards. The resulting free kick was brilliantly executed by Adam Gross as he drove the ball past the wall and into the bottom corner. Stephen Ita replaced Lew Wood for the final 15 minutes and with the home side having little to offer upfront Cray looked to increase their goal tally. The 3rd goal finally came on 85 minutes when Wheeler's run into the box created a chance for Jamie Wood to score but his shot was parried by Hyde and Marsh was on hand to tap home from close range. The clean sheet was kept intact thanks to the woodwork when Mert Varli's long range effort in the final minute beat Keeper Sturgeon but hit the crossbar.

Cray narrowly failed to secure a famous victory over title favourites and FA Vase finalists Tunbridge Wells when they conceded a controversial goal five minutes from normal time. Despite only having nine men following the dismissals of Laurant Hamaci and Adam Gross the home side looked like hanging on for all three points until goalkeeper Bobby Sturgeon put through his own goal. There certainly looked like contact by a Tunbridge Wells player when Sturgeon collected a high ball from under the crossbar which caused the young keeper to drop the ball and it bounced over the line for the Wells' equaliser. Sturgeon challenged the decision but to no avail as referee Bakalarz awarded the goal. We'll have to wait now until the end of the season to see the impact of that goal for both sides.
Following the opening day's victory at Holmesdale the Millers manager Steve Chapman made three changes as he reverted to a more rigid 4-4-2 formation. Kiran Dingri made way for the experienced Paul Springett and Dan Gunner and Laurent Hamaci replaced Michael McKenna and Adam Marsh respectively. It was Hamaci's debut for the club but unfortunately it wasn't one to remember. He looked sharp and threatening in the opening exchanges but he was the first Cray player of the night to see red following two needless cautions, the second of which was just before half time meaning the home side went into the interval with 10 men.
Up until the sending off Cray had taken the game to the visitors and if it wasn't for some assured goalkeeping from Chris Olodogba would have surely gained an advantage. However, despite having created the majority of chances it was the Wells that should have gone ahead when the otherwise impressive Joe Matthews conceded a penalty with a reckless challenge. Tom Davey stepped forward to take the spot kick but fired his shot wide of the upright.
With the numerical advantage and the quality of the players in Tunbridge Wells squad it was obvious that they would push for the win in the second half. With Lewis Wood now playing as the lone forward the Millers re-organised and defended resolutely and in fact took the lead on the hour mark. Skipper Jamie Wood floated a free kick into the box and as Olodogba came to clear Steve Springett managed to rise higher and nonchantly flicked the ball over the advancing keeper into the empty net.
It wasn't long though before Cray were reduced to 9 men when left back Adam Gross picked up his second yellow of the evening with a mis-timed challenge near the half-way line. It was real 'backs to wall' defending from this point onwards as the Wells pushed forward captain Perry Spackman upfront and bought on ex-VCD striker Billy Shinners. In many respects the two dismissals spoilt what was an intriguing match in the first half as Cray looked to run the clock down at every opportunity. Chapman bought on Dingri and Marsh as inevitably legs started to tire but their luck ran out in the 85 minute when Sturgeon, who otherwise was brilliant on the night, gifted the visitors the winner.

Cray recorded their first ever victory at the Charles Sports Ground against a Deal Town side that were forced to play almost the entire game with 10 men. With only 40 seconds on the clock ‘keeper Nick Shaw clattered into Millers striker Billy Barnes as he was put clean through on goal by Lewis Wood and referee Stephen Brown had no option but to send Shaw off. To make matters worse for Deal the offence took place in the penalty area so Cray were awarded a spot kick as well! Without a recognised replacement on the bench striker Scott Punton had the thankless task of taking over from Shaw. Joe Matthews placed his spotkick high to Punton’s left hand side but much to the makeshift ‘keepers relief the ball hit the post and rebounded clear to safety. Fortunately for Matthews, his miss didn’t prove too disastrous as the Millers went on to hit five courtesy of five different players! With a local derby against rivals Erith Town only two days away and the next round of the FA Cup the following Saturday, Paul Springett, Michael McKenna and Dan Gunner were all rested and strikers Laurent Hamici (injured) and Adam Marsh (working) both absent, Millers manager Steve Chapman shuffled his pack and gave starts to Billy Barnes, Kiran Dingri and Adrian Deane. Despite the numerical advantage the Millers had to wait until the 23 minute before Deane eventually opened the scoring. Before Deane’s opener, his first competitive goal in his second spell at Cray, Lew Wood forced Punton to make a fine save and Tunde Aderonmu hit the post. Deane’s goal was a tad fortuitous as his lofted cross eluded Punton and found the top corner of the net. Deal almost equalised but Cray’s stopper Bobby Sturgeon pulled off a great save from a Walsh header. It wasn’t long though before the Millers increased their lead when in the 41 minute Aderonmu outpaced defender Sam Short and fired in a low cross for goal poacher Lew Wood to tap home at the far post. Wierdly, it was the third consecutive game that Wood has scored in the 41 minute – that must be some kind of record! The game was effectively over a minute before the break with a brilliantly executed set piece. A deep corner by Gross was headed back across the goal by Steve Springett and former Old Roan striker Barnes was on hand to head in for his first goal for his new club. Cray’s influential skipper Jamie Wood was forced off with an injury at half time and was replaced by Paul Springett. However, with the outcome of the match never in any doubt the quality of play in the second half deteriorated as the visitors football became sloppy and the Deal players worked their socks off to avoid an embarrassing scoreline. The home side pulled a goal back 5 minutes into the half when Joe Matthews, who was below his best, needlessly conceded a penalty. Deal captain Liam Quinn coolly slotted his kick past Sturgeon. Miller’s full back Gross restored the three goal advantage with a thunderous 30 yard strike as Deane’s cross was only half cleared and Aderonmu added the fifth on the hour mark with another well worked goal. Dingri found Gross in space on the left hand side, who spotted Aderonmu’s run into the box and ‘Ginger’ side footed his shot past Punton. After another fine display Dingri left the pitch shortly after with a neck injury and was replaced by 20 year old Dan Gunner. Gunner’s contribution was a long range effort that clipped the bar and another shot that hit the foot of the post. McKenna also came on for the hard working Barnes but Cray failed to convert any more chances. With the game drawing to a close, Gess lost his marker and headed home to complete the afternoon’s goal feast. The Millers remain unbeaten and moved up to 5th with a game in hand on early leaders Tunbridge Wells and Ashford.

The Millers slipped to their first defeat of the season today after Erith Town snatched the points with a 90th minute winner in the scorching Bank Holiday sunshine at Badgers.
Tunde Aderonmu and Adam Gross found first half equalisers for the Millers before Joe Matthews headed the home side in front for the first time.
However, injuries forced the Millers to change their back line and Erith snatched the goals to seal their late victory.

The Millers crashed to a heavy defeat at Badgers on Saturday to an in form and confident Sevenoaks Town to leave them still looking for their first home win of the season!
Manager Steve Chapman had to send out a depleted team with Jamie Wood, Adam Marsh, Adam Gross, Adrian Deane, Adam Cotterall, Billy Barnes and Kiran Dingri among those missing through injury or suspensions.
With several players playing out of their normal positions, the Millers looked disjointed and an early goal from Nick Chrysanthou rocked the Millers even more.
Just before the half time interval, after the Millers had lost both Ben Healy and Laurent Hamici to injuries, Jermeel Jno-Baptist increased the visitors lead.
The Millers increased their tempo in the second half but some inspired shot stopping from visiting keeper Charlie Mann kept the home side at bay.
Seconds from the end, Jonny Winter heightened the Millers' misery as he broke away down the left to slot past Matt Bailey.
Chapman will be hoping for a change of fortune next Saturday when the Millers continue their FA Carlsberg Vase campaign with a trip to Combined Counties League side Croydon.

Make-shift full back Ryan Sawyer was Cray's unlikely hero when he headed home Steve Springett's deep cross to earn the Millers' victory against a spirited Sevenoaks Town side. The game was evenly balanced when Sawyer charged forward in the 70th minute to rise unchallenged to head past Oaks' keeper Charlie Mann.
Due to an incident on the M25 players from both sides arrived late so warm ups were disrupted and team line ups hastily changed. Cray lost Jamel Willer entirely as he was forced to turnaround and go home and Harrison Carnegie had to watch the game from the subs bench as he arrived minutes from kick-off. With Adam Gross, Ben Healy, Adam Cotterall and Kiran Dingri all still sidelined with long-term injuries Gary Cooke and Jimmy Rogers came straight into the starting line up for their debuts. Cooke, who did pre-season with the Millers, came via Whitstable Town and Cray Wanderers, and provided some much needed experience in defence while former VCD midfielder Rogers slotted effortlessly into the holding mid-field role.
The visitors started impressively and should have taken the lead in the opening minutes when striker Joe Nwoko muscled his way into the penalty box but his shot was deflected wide. The Millers have this unfortunate knack of conceding early goals at present and once again a lack of communication and poor marking allowed Jermeel Jno-Baptist too much space in the area and he calmly slotted his shot past Millers' keeper Matt Bailey.
It wasn't long before the scores were level when Cooke headed home a debut goal from a cross by Sawyer. The Millers then took the lead in the 39th minute when the in form Tunde Aderonmu collected the ball on the edge of the Oaks' box and smashed home his shot. In a topsey turvey half the home side ensured the teams went in level at half-time with a fine solo effort by Harry Smith. The Oaks' striker collected the ball around the half-way line and ran half the length of the pitch before shooting past Bailey.
Referee Stacchini had what can be politely described as an inconsistent game but neither manager could argue about his decision to send off a player from each side early in the second half. First an Oaks' mid-fielder received a straight red for violent conduct and in the same incident Millers' forward Adam Marsh was dismissed after being shown a second yellow for pushing an opponent.
With both sides reduced to 10 men the game continued to be an open affair but there was only one further goal. Aderomnu held the ball up well on the edge of the Oaks' box and waited for the advancing Springett to provide the overlap down the left wing. He rolled the ball straight into Springett's path and the left-back’s pinpoint cross was headed in by Cray's other full back Sawyer. Three valuable points for the Millers and revenge for the defeat by Sevenoaks in the reverse fixture.

The Millers produced their best performance of the season and in doing so inflicted the FA Vase finalists to a humiliating defeat on their home ground. Martin Larkin's title contenders were outplayed by a vibrant Cray side and if it wasn't for Wells' keeper Chris Oladogba and the woodwork, the score could easily have been seven or eight.
The victory was even more impressive in respect that skipper Jamie Wood, Laurent Hamici and Adam Gross were all missing with injuries. Joe Matthews assumed the armband and produced an outstanding performance alongside new signing Gary Cooke to nullify the threat of promising Wells' striker Jack Harris. It was difficult to select a man of the match as every Cray player was outstanding on a memorable evening.
It took only eight minutes for Cray to take the lead. Perry Spackman's pass back was left by Andy Boyle and intercepted by Lewis Wood. The experienced striker could have shot himself but as Oladogba covered his angles Wood squared the ball to Joe Nwoko who simply passed it into an empty net.
Nwoko extended the lead five minutes later and once again it was Wood who was the provider. Jimmy Rogers' deep cross found Wood in space on the left and Nwoko nipped in front of his marker to convert Wood’s pass from close range. Nwoko spurned the chance of a hat trick moments later when he fired over the bar. The visitors went three up on 40 minutes with the goal of the game. Michael McKenna and Rogers played a one-two on the halfway line and McKenna found Wood on the edge of the Wells box.. McKenna continued his run and Wood set the ball up for him to strike his shot into the top corner of the net from 20 yards. With the Wells' defence in total disarray Cray almost scored another two before the break. First Adam Marsh hit the bar with a direct free kick and Tunde Aderomnu’s header was brilliantly turned over the bar by Oladogba.
The Millers continued to dominate and control after the break and the Wells had no answer to their fluid passing football and movement. Chapman introduced Jamel Willer for the cautioned Marsh and he quickly made his contribution to the evening by delivering the corner that enabled Joe Matthews to power home his headed goal. Top scorer Wood completed the rout when he took advantage of some hesitancy in the Wells defence to latch onto a long ball from Millers' keeper Matt Bailey to lob the advancing Oladogba.
A thoroughly deserved and convincing victory for the Millers who closed the gap on their title rivals.

Laurent Hamici scored a first half hat-trick as the Millers recorded their first home win in the League with an emphatic 5-1 victory against Holmesdale. Recent signings Gary Cooke and Joe Nwoko scored the other two whilst Daniel Stewart scored a consolation goal for the Dalers.
Hamici's campaign has been plagued with a re-occurring hamstring injury but after opening his tally against Barkingside in the London Senior Cup, the former Carshalton and Cray Wanderers striker became the first Cray Valley player to score a hat-trick in senior football. Just as one player returns from injury another appears to suffer the same feat! On this occasion Michael McKenna pulled up with a calf strain in the warm-up which forced him to miss the game. Adam Marsh was also absent serving the first of his two game suspension.
Cray started the game strongly and Tunde Aderonmu should have put them ahead in the opening minutes but he pulled his shot wide of the post. It didn't take too long before the Millers opened the scoring and there was an element of good fortune about the goal. Dalers' Keeper Alex Hyde appeared to be hampered when he came out to clear Dan Gunner's cross and his clearance fell to Cooke who swept the ball into the unguarded net. Two minutes later Hamici increased Cray's lead with his first of the afternoon. The influential Jimmy Rogers found Laurent and he nodded the ball onto Aderonmu who chested it back for the striker to hit an unstoppable shot from 12 yards out. That should have been game over as the visitors struggled to contain Cray's free flowing football but against the run of play they pulled a goal back. A number of Cray players failed to do their jobs defensively and Daniel Stewart was given too much space in the box and fired a low shot beyond Matt Bailey into the corner of the net.
Hamici restored the Millers' two goal advantage three minutes later when Hyde's poor clearance was intercepted by the revitalised striker and he calmly slotted the ball past the embarrassed Keeper as he attempted to atone for his error. Hamici then went on to complete his hat-trick just before the break. Ryan Sawyer's long throw caused havoc in the Dalers' box and Hamici was on hand to extend the home team's lead to 4-1 at half-time. Referee Bakalarz contributed to an entertaining but somewhat fiesty first half by booking at least 7 players including Joe Matthews, Lewis Wood and Hamici for the Millers.
It was inevitable the second-half would not quite line up to the first as the visitor's main objective was to maintain a respectable scoreline. Joe Matthews should have added his name to the score sheet when he headed over Dan Gunner's pinpoint corner when it appeared easier to score. At the other end of the pitch Matt Bailey pulled off a few good saves but the fans had to wait until the 85 minute for the next goal. Aderonmu's excellent through ball was collected by Joe Nwoko and he ran through unchallenged to shoot past the advancing Hyde.
A well earned and deserved three points for the Millers.

The Millers bounced back from their Kent Senior trophy exit with a comfortable victory against Rochester United. The 2-0 scoreline flattered the visitors as Cray were guilty of missing a hatful of chances and only secured the three points deep into added time when Charlie Vines bundled the ball over the line after having his initial effort blocked.
Millers manager Steve Chapman fielded all three of his prolific strikers namely, Laurent Hamici, Lewis Wood and Charlie Vines, but it was their influential player coach and captain for the day, Paul Gross who showed the way with a brilliantly taken headed goal on 14 minutes. Younger sibling Adam supplied a pin point corner and the veteran defender powered home his downward header past Spartans keeper Joe Hagen.
Hamici, Vines and Woods could all be disappointed with their finishing but they were also constantly thwarted by a series of excellent saves by visiting keeper and man of the match Hagen, and the woodwork. He produced three magnificent saves in five minutes from Hamici and then denied Wood as he attempted to round the keeper in a one–on-one situation. Woods was presented with a similar opportunity minutes later but on this occasion he went round Hagen but to his dismay his shot hit the foot of the post. Vines was out of luck as well as his header hit the bar as was Adam Gross,who saw both of his free kicks comfortably saved by Hagen. Half time – Millers 1 Joe Hagen 0!
The second half didn’t quite match the same high tempo as the first but the story was very much the same. Vines hit the bar with a long range effort and Hamici’s afternoon was summed up when he finally beat Hagen only to see his effort pass through a hole in the net and neither referee Darren Keating nor his assistant supported his claims for a goal.
In the middle of the park, Ricky Hepburn had an impressive debut for the Millers following his move from neighbours Bridon Ropes and Tunde Aderomnu looked lively following his short absence.
The Spartans almost made Cray pay for a plethora of missed chances when they hit the bar from a corner but the points were finally wrapped up 6 minutes into added time when Vines finally managed to beat Hagen and add to his hat track against Welling.

The Becks v The Millers are normally feisty but entertaining affairs and this one certainly didn’t disappoint the spectators. On this occasion, it was the visitors that snatched a late winner in an evenly matched contest where chances were aplenty at both ends of the pitch. It was Reece Grant, on loan from high flying Wealdstone, who was on hand to tap home from close range after Laurent Hamici had robbed former Cray defender Nathan Paul near the corner flag before squaring the ball to the unmarked Grant. Both sides were affected by suspension and injuries and the Millers were missing Aderomnu, Sawyer and Lewis Wood (injured), Rogers, Carnegie (sick) and Gunner, Sturgeon and Radiu (away for Christmas!!). Despite the atrocious weather in the lead up to Christmas the Eden Park Avenue playing surface was near perfect and suited the playing styles of both teams’. The early stages largely involved the battle for the middle of the park and saw Frankie Warren cautioned for a crude challenge on Millers captain Jamie Wood, then Ricky Hepburn evened the score in the card count when thwarting a menacing run by Jake Britnall. Although it was end to end, neither keeper was forced into action as the home side were prevented from scoring by a series of well timed tackles by the experienced Gary Cooke and long range efforts by Hamici and Grant were charged down by the Becks defence. The first real opportunity came on the half hour mark when Ben Healy delivered a delightful far post cross for Vines. The ex Becks striker headed the ball back into the path of Wood but his goal bound volley was blocked on the line. Hacimi was then unlucky not to open the scoring when his shot from the edge of the box was tipped over by Becks keeper Rilwan Anibaba. Despite the pressure it was Beckenham that took the lead just before the interval. Steve Springett initially missed his header from a deep clearance and the ball fell straight to Alfie Nunn. The Cray defence didn’t react quickly enough and the Becks skipper was given time to pick out Warren in the six yard box and the midfielder duly guided the ball home. Charlie Vines levelled the score in the 56 minute after some good work from Hamici and Adam Gross but it only took the home side 3 minutes to regain the lead. Cooke gave away a free kick on the edge of the area and Adam Wadmore stepped forward to smash his shot over the Cray wall and beyond Matt Bailey’s outstretched hand into the top corner of the net. After Jamie Turner’s 30 yard screamer last season and Jake Hobbs spectacular effort from the half way line in the last fixture, this was the 3rd ‘worldy’ Cray had conceded against the Becks in as many games at Eden Park! Bailey went on to make some impressive saves and Michael McKenna was unfortunate not to equalise when his left footed shot hit the post. However, it was McKenna who eventually became provider when his deep corner was headed back across the goal by Springett for Grant to glance home from close range. A draw would probably have been a fair result but it was the Millers who dramatically grabbed all three points when Grant added his second with virtually the last kick of the game.

The Millers slumped to a second defeat in 4 days with a 3-1 loss to Erith Town, who were ground sharing in the second "Badgers" Derby for the season on Tuesday evening.
The Dockers narrowly edged the first half but it was the Millers who went in front on 55 minutes when Jamie Wood fired into the top corner from 18 yards following good work on the right from Tyrus Gordon-Young. The lead lasted just two minutes though as former Miller Joe Nwoko burst through to calmly slot the ball underneath Matt Bailey in the Millers goal. Further goals from Aaron Jeffrey and Rikki Cable ensured the Dockers completed the 'double' over the Millers this season.

Defender Steve 'Geordie' Springett scored a last gasp equaliser to deny League leaders Whyteleafe all three points and gain the Millers a share of the spoils. With only seconds left in added time Geordie was on hand to nod home a deep cross from Harrison Carnegie from close range. Springett had earlier given the home side the lead but Leafe captain Jason Thompson also scored a brace to give the visitors the lead before the dramatic finish.
The Millers welcomed back striker Laurant Hamici from his 5 match suspension but said goodbye to Tyrus Gordon-Young as he returned to Thamesmead following the completion of his two month loan spell. Millers' manager Steve Chapman gave 17 year old Michael Aziaya his debut and the young centre back rewarded him with an outstanding display along side the equally impressive Ryan Sawyer. Aziaya showed no sign of nerves as he and Sawyer dealt with everything the Leafe strikers had to offer.
The first half was a tight affair with the Millers probably just edging the better of the chances. Exciting Winger Ola Radiu constantly troubled the Leafe defence with his dazzling runs and Carnegie linked up well with Hamici upfront.
Following a goaless first half it was Springett that broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute. A free kick from Phil McBean was flicked on by Hamici and found Springett unmarked but he scrambled the ball over the line at the second attempt. The League leaders demonstrated why they have only lost one League game all season, stormed back to level the scores when Thompson drilled his shot past Matt Bailey in the Cray goal as the home side failed to clear a corner. Six minutes later the Leafe skipper was on hand to give Leafe the lead. Sawyer was harshly judged to give a free kick away on the edge of the box and Thompson stepped up to drive an unstoppable free kick into the top corner of the net.
Millers lost Hamici with a foot injury and skipper Jamie Wood was also forced off with a tight hamstring. Replacements Young-Gordon and Alfie Norman played their part in the fightback and the Millers pressed forward in search of an equaliser. Time as running out, Carnegie surged down the right wing to deliver a high cross which Springett managed to head home to earn a deserved point. The goal was officially timed at 90 + 5 minutes!

Referee that day Jamaal Horne now a London FA administrator recalled that the Leafe were particularly upset at conceding late on as it ended an unbeaten run for them. They went on to win the league by 11 points. The Millers finished in 7th place.

Millers' goalkeeper Matt Bailey saved a second-half penalty to deny promotion chasing Ashford three points and earned the visitors a creditable draw. The scores were level when Cray's young defender Michael Aziaya gave the spot kick away with a reckless challenge but Adam Cuthbert's shot was weak and Bailey comfortably saved. The Nuts and Bolts' dream of winning the League are becoming increasingly remote as Whyteleafe have forged ahead in recent weeks and have the points in the bag!
The visitors could have made Ashford’s' plight even worse had they taken the early chances before letting them back into the game. Within the first 10 minutes of the game the Millers opened up the home side's defence with ease. With the game only a few minutes old, Harrison Carnegie found Ola Radiu in space on the right but the winger shot wastefully high above the bar. Paul Gross then found Carnegie but his shot from the edge of the box struck the bar with Ashford's keeper Joe Mant well beaten. Dan Gunner screwed a shot wide of the post before Jimmy Rogers finally converted a chance on 7 minutes. Paul Gross was tipped from behind as he shaped up to shoot and referee Simon Finnigan had no choice but to award a penalty. Rogers stepped forward to only side foot the spot kick past Mant for his first goal of the season.
The Millers continued to surge forward and almost doubled their lead when Carnegie again put Radiu through on goal but this time the young winger chipped shot hit the bar and re-bounded to safety. Gunner again when close before the Nuts and Bolts levelled the scores with their first attempt of the night. Striker Sam Conlon found space on the left and as Matt Bailey charged out of his goal to block the shot, Conlon lobbed the ball over him into the empty net. Despite both sides creating more chances the teams went in at half-time level.
The second half was equally as exciting as the first but it was the home side that created the better of the scoring opportunities. The penalty miss by Cuthbert was crucial but a few of his colleagues were guilty of missing good chances, especially former Canterbury striker Buster Smission, who came off the bench to miss a sitter. Millers' manager Steve Chapman introduced Grant Lye, a product of Cray's successful Under 18s youth team, and the young striker almost rewarded him with a goal.
On the evening a draw was probably a fair result but it could have been a very different story if the Millers had converted those early chances!

The Millers completed the double over Rochester but had to overcome a spirited first half display by a much improved home team. Goals from Steve Springett, James Golding and player coach Paul Gross maintained an impressive unbeaten run which now stretches to six League games.
Cray welcomed the return of Adam Gross from injury and it did not take long for the left back to make an impression. With the game only 5 minutes old, Gross delivered a delightful deep cross to the far post for Springett to rise high and head into an empty goal. However, instead of building on that early advantage Cray let the home team back into the game and as a result of some poor finishing and two great saves from Miller's keeper Matt Bailey, they somehow managed to retain the lead until half time. Firstly, Bailey thwarted Ricky Gutheyas, as eluded two challenges before shooting straight at the Cray keeper and then Bailey made a point blank save from the Spartans' skipper Anthony Uden.
A few home truths were voiced in the dressing room at half time and the Millers responded by putting on a dominant display in the second half. Midfielders Phil McBean and Jimmy Rogers bossed the middle of the park and it wasn't long before the lead was doubled. As a corner was half cleared, the ball fell to James Golding and his looping left footed shot looped over Joe Hagan's head into the net.
New signing Richard Pearce was introduced with 15 minutes to go and the former Beckenham Town striker made an instant impression. Skipper Jamie Wood's excellent through pass to Pearce almost resulted in a debut goal but unfortunately he fired wide of the post. With 90 minutes up on the clock Bailey was judged to have committed a foul whilst a corner was being taken and the referee awarded a penalty to the home side.
Uden stepped up to send Bailey the wrong way and reduce the arrears. However, Cray wrapped up the points moments later when Richard Pearce latched onto a ball from substitute Ola Radiu and as keeper Hagan came out to close him down Pearce rolled the ball across the face of the goal for Paul Gross to side foot home from 10 yards.
In the end a deserved 3 points for the Millers but Rochester must regret not taking advantage of their first half dominance.

Four days after a 119th minute goal from Callum Overton secured a 2-1 win at Badgers to put AFC Wimbledon into the Final of the London Senior Cup, the Millers responded with an emphatic victory at Martyn Grove. Laurent Hamici opened the scoring in the first half, before doubling the Millers advantage, five minutes into the second half. Dan Gunner (71) and under 18 striker Grant Lye (76) completed the scoring for the visiting side.

City were caught by a proverbial sucker punch on 69 minutes when a ball floated in from the left was volleyed home with some authority by Harrison Carnegie giving Hayward no chance. It took the home side just three minutes to respond. Winder, with some lovely skill, attacked down the left and picked his way through two three defenders, showing loads of composure, he rolled the ball across the box, for Lloyd Woolford, who side stepped the keeper and stabbed the ball into the empty net. With just a couple of minutes left, Cray bagged a winner. A ball into the box wasn't dealt with and a loose header fell into space, Laurent Hamici reacted the quickest firing home for Cray to make it 1-2.
