IT'S WRITTEN IN THE STARS AS MILLERS PROGRESS
EMIRATES FA CUP FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND - 3 SEP 2023 - ATT 124
UXBRIDGE 0 CRAY VALLEY (PM) 3
Goals: CV - Parker 9, Lisbie 30, Vigor 69
The Millers reached the second qualifying round of the FA Cup for the fourth time in six seasons as Uxbridge were beaten 3-0 at their temporary home, the ground of Slough Town FC, which offered both excellent facilities and a warm welcome. With the match ball sponsored by non-league and Uxbridge fan, astrologer Russell Grant, it might be said the result was written in the stars!
Match Action
On a glorious sunny afternoon the Millers took the lead in the ninth minute, Kyrell Lisbie disposed defender Sean McGuinness on the edge of the box and unselfishly squared to Freddie Parker who had the simplest of tap ins. The lead should really have been doubled shortly after when the ball fell to Hassan Ibrahiym eight yards out but in trying to beat the keeper and covering defender on the line he put too much power in the shot and it flew over the top.
Chances at both ends followed, the Millers defending well as a couple of efforts were blocked as the Reds threatened and Ibrahiym was unable to get proper contact as another chance for the Millers went begging. Sonny Black did have the ball in the back of the net but his effort was ruled out for offside. On the half hour the Millers finally deservedly doubled their lead, Tom Chambers advanced down the flank, found Freddie Parker after cutting inside who was able to set up Kyrell Lisbie to score his fifth goal of the season in the opening six matches.
Match Action
After the interval both teams continued to look dangerous on the break with Michael Ademiluyi in particular a contact threat for the Millers. Both keepers were called into action and made good saves. In the 69th minute Matt Vigor hit the bar but in the second wave attack he made the game safe when he scored the Millers third, Ibrahiym with the assist, an excellent through ball.
An entertaining game ended 3-0 with the Millers good value for their win. They certainly created the more chances as evidenced by stats shown on the electronic scoreboard at the end, 21 shots to 12.
