MILLERS MARCH ON AS HOT STREAK CONTINUES
ISUZU FA TROPHY FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND - 9 SEP 2023 - ATT 120
BROADBRIDGE HEATH 0 CRAY VALLEY (PM) 2
Goals: CV - Lisbie 36, Parker 59
On one of the hottest days of the year the opening period saw several shots blocked but overall it was a case of not being able to make the final ball count at either end. On the half hour the Millers created their best chance when Clement Asiedu broke forward on the left flank and let fly, his shot was well hit, but the keeper saved well pushing the ball away for a corner.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 36th minute by Kyrell Lisbie, his own hot streak continuing with his 6th of the season, scoring in all of the last six games, to put the Millers ahead. Arthur Lee played a long ball out wide for Clement Asiedu to run onto, he passed inside to Lisbie who finished well firing low past the keeper from just inside the penalty area.
The lead was doubled as the hour mark approached, Michael Ademiluyi crossed from the right and Freddie Parker got to the front post to head home. The Millers were good value for their lead but Heath certainly weren't out of it and Jensen Grant made a timely tackle in the penalty area to thwart them. Moments later Ademiluyi broke away on goal and his low shot wizzed past the far post.
With the clock ticking down and just seconds left the Millers suffered a major setback and talking point when keeper Sam Freeman was shown the red card, being adjudged to have handled just outside the eighteen yard line to deny a goalscoring opportunity. Freeman will be suspended for one game meaning he will miss the FA Cup game at Northwood next Saturday. The decision was made by the assistant, fine lines in football of course or in this case a very faint marked line and a bright sun making judgements very tricky.

Barney Williams, one of the smaller players in the Millers line up took over between the sticks, he told me jokingly after the game "I've got a terrific leap". The resulting free kick went wide and the final whistle blew to end the game and ensure the Millers march on to the next round where they will meet Hartley Wintney, who beat Corinthian Casuals 1-0 in their first qualifying round tie. The game will be at the Artic Stadium on Saturday 23rd September ko 3pm.
