VELOCITY TROPHY – 2ND ROUND
By Richard J Green
Valley return to cup action on Tuesday evening as Kevin Watson takes his table toppers to Suffolk for a second time in three months.
The Millers’ reward for a 2-1 victory over Hullbridge Sports seven weeks ago sees them take on an AFC Sudbury side who ended their FA Trophy aspirations in a penalty shoot out following 90 goalless minutes..
Since that October afternoon, Suds have made an appearance on national TV as their FA Cup First Round tie at home to League Two opponents Colchester United ended in a 4-0 defeat.
Their league form has suffered in the last few weeks with only one win in five matches since beating Coggeshall Town on penalties in the last round of the Velocity Trophy, leaving them in sixth place following a 3-0 defeat at Stowmarket Town last week.
Following Saturday’s defeat against Lancing, Watson will be looking to name a strong side for the tie - handing a debut to new signing Raheem Sterling-Parker while giving recuperation minutes to those recently recovering from illness.
