IN-FORM ASHFORD UNITED SAW THEIR EXCELLENT recent run come grinding to a halt as Cray Valley PM completed a league double to bounce back into playoff contention with this resounding victory, writes Richard Green.
Francis Babalola opened the scoring for The Millers in the 4th minute when he turned and fired home from 12 yards following an excellent jinking run by Denzel Gayle.
The home side should have increased their lead 4 minutes later when fine work by Hassan Ibrahiym saw him feed Babalola, who's shot was saved by Sam Mott. Tomlin’s follow up effort struck Nuts & Bolts defender Matthew Bourne on the arm - the referee deciding that the arm wasn't raised and deemed the offence accidental.
The lead was extended in the 31st minute when a fine battling run by Matthew Warren saw him feed Babalola who slipped the ball beyond Mott.
The visitors could have reduced the arrears on the stroke of half time as Aaron Condon's fine run on the left saw him strike the near post.
Ashford United did pull a goal back in the 66th minute as Jake McIntyre's fine run saw him find Jay May who finished with aplomb.
The points were sealed for The Millers 4 minutes from time when a strong, mazy run by Gayle saw him beat Mott to his right.
