FRANCIS BABALOLA’S DEFLECTED 83RD MINUTE STRIKE earned a hard fought point for The Millers after trailing Guernsey for a long period of the game.
Despite dominating the first half possession wise, Babalola trailed a lone foray up front with little support from The Millers’ midfield.
A plethora of early strikes failed to test Green Lions ‘keeper Callum Stanton until, with midfielder Charlton Gauvain increasingly influential in midfield, the Islanders’ striker Ross Allen was tripped on the edge of the 18 yard box by Anthony Edgar. The Green Lions striker picked himself up to convert low to keeper Andy Walkers’ outstretched right hand.
As the second half got under way in similar fashion, it took until the 67th minute for keeper Stanton to be called into action, saving low down from Danny Smith after excellent work by Edgar.
As the Millers probed, the visitors well organised rear guard was finally breached as Babalola struck home from the edge of the box to equalise, but despite The Millers’ territorial pressure the visitors flew home with a share of the spoils.
