TWO goals from whirlwind wide man Denzel Gayle blew away The Hillians at a wet and blustery Green Elephants Stadium.
Burgess Hill Town took the lead as early as the 5th minute, when Josh James lost posession on the edge of his area. The oncoming cross with Ashley Sains and Matthew Warren unable to clear, saw Scott Kirkwood beat Millers' keeper Andy Walker in the six yard box.
The South East Londoners' response was quick, less than a minute, as a penetrating run by Anthony Edgar saw the ball find Gayle who slotted home.
The increasingly wet conditions saw both defences under pressure - Walker racing off his line to block one Hillians effort, while Millers probed to find a way through at the other end.
On many other days, Millers' striker Warren Mfula would have converted at least one of many chances that came his way.
The second half started with Cray Valley PM very much in the ascendancy as a strong run from Edgar saw his low drive strike the upright, only for Mfula to hit the bar from the rebound.
With Edgar now becoming increasingly influential, Hillians keeper Josh James had to be at his best to prevent the enigmatic midfielder giving the visitors the lead.
The threatened goal arrived in the 56th minute as quick thinking from Mfula saw him play a short corner to Ryan Flack who's rasping drive was spilled by the keeper into the path of Matthew Warren. The midfielder capped a fine performance by giving The Millers the lead.
Stung into action, the hosts applied pressure on the Cray Valley PM goal as first Walker made a good double save, then minutes later did well to punch away a Hillians shot following a corner.
Then, with defender Ashley Sains appearing to be fouled midway in his half, Erivaldo Felix equalised for Burgess Hill Town, heading in a right wing cross.
There now looked to be only one winner as the home side enjoyed a spell of pressure.
However, on 85 minutes, Flack's excellent through ball found Mfula who's shot was saved by the keeper into the path of the lurking Gayle who fired home.
So a 4th win on the road sees The Millers top the table after 9 games.
