Francis Babalola's double helped Cray Valley Paper Mills inflict a first league defeat of the season on Ashford United with a 2-1 win at Homelands. Babalola opened the scoring with just nine minutes on the clock, a bright start from the visitors rewarded with the striker touching home after good work from Denzel Gayle.
But United, whose start to the Isthmian South East season had been impeccable, showed exactly why they are promotion candidates by levelling up after the break. The hosts came out of the blocks quicker and David Smith was the man to put them on terms, The Millers caught cold by a good team move finished off by their top goalscorer.
Many thought that would be the turning point but Valley showed why they themselves are flying high. Babalola at the double to put them back in front with 20 minutes of the game remaining. Gayle broke with pace and found himself with Babalola alongside, finishing close in to give the visitors a high sought-after scalp on the road.
