Andrew Walker's flying 85th minute save from Jack Dixon's powerful header, ensured The Millers earned a well deserved first point in Step 4 football.
An entertaining game that belied the goalless scoreline saw Cray Valley substitute Emiliano Hysi strike the post with a rasping 25 yard drive in the 75th minute - Emmanuel Oloyede being unable to convert the rebound.
Promotion favourites Hastings United made the better start to both halves before Cray Valley grew into the game and finished the stronger, with midfielder Anthony Edgar ever influential
Powerful wing play from Denzel Gayle had Hastings right back Ollie Black constantly on the back foot, before being forced to switch sides during the second half.
But push as they did, Millers couldn't breach the Hastings back line and finished grateful to the veteran Walker.
