A first half header by Greens captain Dave Diedhiou was the only goal of the game as the hosts took all three points despite a battling performance from the Millers. Luke Campbell in the Greens goal made vital saves throughout to help maintain their clean sheet. Early on he leapt to tip over a looping Cem Tumkaya header and on 18 minutes denied Adam Coombes after combining well with Julien Anau.

Sonny Black had a goal ruled out at the start of the second half after latching on to a head down but the referee's whistle had blown for an infringement as the cross came in. A good move from Valley just before the hour mark led to Campbell making another good save this time to thwart Matty Vigor.

In the 61st minute Tumkaya was shown a straight red card for a missed tackle on the touchline. Despite being a man down Valley rallied and pressed forward in search of an equaliser. The Greens did hit the post from a Kurtis Cumberbatch shot from distance but Valley will feel they deserved something from the game for their efforts. That moment looked as it would come in the closing minutes but once again it was Campbell who made a stunning one handed re-flex parry to keep out Marcel's Battington's low volley into the ground across goal from close range.
