The “Oldest Football Club in London”, we visit Flamingo Park on Tuesday evening for what will be “The Wands” first competitive fixture at a venue of their own. Promoted as champions from the South East Division in 2018/19, the last three seasons have seen fluctuating fortunes - a fifth place finish in 2022/23 being bookended by battles to avoid the drop.

The Match:
Dubbed the "Cray Classico" it promises to be a fantastic occasion. Wanderers will be further buoyed by their opening day away win on Saturday at Hashtag United where goals from Frankie Raymond and Dontai Stewart gave them a 2-0 victory. Valley on the other hand will be looking to bounce back after their narrow 2-1 opening day defeat at the Artic Stadium on Saturday against Dartford.

The two clubs have not met previously in a competitive game. I am reliably informed that the two clubs have met nearly 20 times since 1922 in the Kent Junior Cup but that would have involved Cray Valley First team v Cray Wanderers Reserves.
