HYTHE TOWN 0 CRAY VALLEY (PM) 4 - 23 APRIL 2024 - ATT 264
GOALS: CV - COOMBES 14, 39 LISBIE 48 ANAU 74

Victory over the Cannons last night leaves the Millers on the brink of title glory and with it promotion to step 3 for the first time. A point at Horndean on Saturday will seal the deal but Steve McKimm and his team will be under no illusions, there is still work to be done and nothing can be taken for granted.

It was a professional performance from the Millers at Reachfields on a bobbly pitch and credit to the Cannons who didn't make things easy. The home side with new management duo Sammy Moore and Darren Beale at the helm were forced to bring in four of their U18's for their debut and they acquitted themselves well. With the constant long throw threat of Jack Steventon the Millers had to be alert at the back and they coped well with the threat to keep a clean sheet.

After some fast and frantic football in the opening period it was Valley who took the lead in the 14th minute, Adam Coombes finishing well, low into the bottom corner after receiving Julian Anau's pass. It was the same duo combining for the second after 39 minutes, the cross from Anau headed home by Coombes.

Immediately after the interval a low ball in from Denzel Gayle found Kyrell Lisbie in the centre and he added a third, perseverance winning the day after his first couple of efforts were blocked, his shot finally finding the back of the net. That was the 29th goal of the season in all competitions for Lisbie and the 100th league goal for Valley, The goalscoring was completed in the 74th minute with Anau getting on the scoresheet, after latching onto Sonny Black's through pass he finished low past the keeper into the far corner.

It was a game in which Valley didn't create a host of chances but took the ones they did and now all is set for the trip to Horndean on Saturday. Meanwhile Ramsgate are at home to Three Bridges and ready to pounce should the Millers slip up. The green army will be keen to ensure that doesn't happen.
