A fantastic evening for the Millers as clinical finishing saw them beat the Becks 6-0 and extend their 100% away win league run to fifteen games. With Ramsgate losing by the only goal of the game at Horndean it puts the Millers back on top by one point. As someone quoted after the game eight cup finals to go.
Steve McKimm rang the changes making full use of his squad with four different players in the starting line up from Saturdays win. It took just 2 minutes for Valley to take the lead, Oshilaja spread the ball out wide to Lisbie on the left who cut inside and from the edge of the penalty area 12 yards out, hit a rasping drive beyond Blue that fizzled as it hit the back of the net in the far top corner.
Saturdays double goalscorer Black had a close range header ruled out for a push on 20 minutes but not long after the lead was doubled from the penalty spot. Lisbie brought down under a challenge from Wanogho and Coombes converted.
Theophanous playing his first match for the Backs since November, after dual registering with AFC Croydon was the focal point of their attack and he went close with a header going just over the top. Valley then added two more goals prior to the half time break, on 35 minutes Asiedu's cross from the left found Coombes whose header was blocked by Blue but Vigor picked up the loose ball and slotted home from inside the six yard box. Four minutes later Lisbie scored his second and Valley's fourth collecting a ball over the top, rounding the keeper and slotting into an empty net.
Second half and Theophanous forced Valley keeper Ovenden to make a good save diving across his goal to block his driven effort. In the 78th minute two of Valley's substitutes combined for the fifth goal, Della-Verde's corner was met by a towering leap and header at the far post from Anau. With the clock ticking down Valley's third substitute Barrington added the sixth, after receiving Asiedu's pass he showed excellent control, turn and shot from fully 20 yards out.
Lisbie was denied his hat trick in added time, his header from Ekpitea's cross being saved by Blue. The final whistle blew and Valley will be delighted with the result. Next up is a home fixture when they return to the Artic Stadium on Saturday against Hythe Town.
