PITCHING-IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE SE DIV
ERITH & BELVEDERE 1 CRAY VALLEY (PM) 3 - 9 MAR 2024 - ATT 180
GOALS CV - Ademiluyi 13, BLACK 90+1, LISBIE 90+8
E&B - Parkinson (pen) 60
The Millers extended their 100% win record on their league travels this season but left it late to take the run to 13 and remain two points behind leaders Ramsgate and seven ahead of Sittingbourne, both winning today. Ten games to play.
Valley took the lead in the 13th minute, Freddie Parker's well judged pass sent Michael Ademiluyi racing through the middle on goal, his first effort was blocked by the Deres keeper Jordan Gillmore but he was able to slot home the rebound from an acute angle. Valley were on top throughout much of the first half but the Deres looked dangerous on the break and Max Ovenden was called into action on a couple of ocassions and on another the ball was cleared off the line.
On the hour mark a ball into the box caught the arm of Tom Chambers after deflecting off his foot and the Deres were awarded a penalty, duly despatched into the bottom corner by Dan Parkinson. Valley pressed forward in search of the winner and went close a number of times with shots either off target, blocked or Gillmore well positioned to deny them. The Deres were proving to be resilient opponents and had chances themselves, a scuffed shot one on one coming to mind.
As the clocked ticked down Steve McKimm shuffled the pack with Kyrell Lisbie, Adam Coombes and Marcel Barrington all entering the fray to give different attacking options. It was a case of finding a way and Valley did just that as we entered added time. Barney Williams corner found it's way to Chambers out wide on the other side, his ball in was partially cleared and it was Williams who headed the ball back into the mix with Sonny Black getting the vital touch close in to restore the lead. In the eighth minute of added time Barrington slotted in Lisbie who rounded the keeper and his dinked shot just had enough on it to cross the line and nestle in the corner of the net.
Tough on the Deres but Valley had found a way and kept their 100% away league record in tact. Fine lines in Football, last week two added time goals brought their first league defeat of the season, today two added time goals secured the victory.
