The Millers strolled to a convincing win against a disappointing Ashford side who failed to have a single shot on target all afternoon. The home side extended their unbeaten league record to 20 matches as they continue to apply pressure on leaders Ramsgate.

Despite having the majority of possession, it wasn't until the 20th minute that the Millers carved out their first real chance, Denzel Gayle attacked down the right flank, slipped the ball into Adam Coombes who looked well placed to score but the defender forced him to delay his shot which was well saved by ex Millers keeper Chris Lewington. The opening goal finally came on 28 minutes after the impressive Lyle Della-Verde drove into the Nuts and Bolts box and was bought down by defender Tolulope Johah. Adam Coombes cooly despatched the resulting penalty past Lewington.

Ten minutes later the lead was doubled when Barney Williams was fouled on the edge of the penalty area and Della-Verde’s impeccable free kick evaded the visitors wall and the hapless Lewington. As the interval approached Gayle enjoyed another excellent run into the penalty area shrugging off the attention of a number of defenders before seeing his shot blocked.

The second half was played at a much slower tempo but again it was the Millers who managed to create the openings, Matty Vigor's curled shot just missing the target after good build up play. Another excellent passing movement produced the best chance of the second half, ending with Coombes striking the foot of the post. Gayle who was a constant threat on the right flank was replaced by Kyrell Lisbie in the 72nd minute. With the clock ticking down, Lisbie made an excellent run on the left flank but saw his low cross just evade the attentions of fellow substitute Marcel Barrington.

Manager Steve McKimm was happy with what he described as a professional performance as they secured the three points and kept another clean sheet. Next up home to Horndean on Tuesday evening.
