The Millers withstood an attempted second half comeback from the Bay as they defended stubbornly to keep a second consecutive clean sheet and with it earn the three points as they moved into 4th place in the table.

Valley had dominated the first half and deservedly held the lead at the interval courtesy of Kyrell Lisbie's fine finish in the 20th minute. Excellent work from Tom Chambers on the overlap as he put in a low cross which Lisbie did well to control and swivel to fire Valley in front. A number of other chances went by the wayside in the early stages and at the other end Sam Freeman in the Valley goal wasn't called into action until the half hour diving low to his right to make the save. Valley continued to put pressure on the Bay goal, with Harry Brooks the busier of the two keepers, although it was Bay who went close on the stroke of half time, Danny Walder striking the crossbar from a free kick.

Bay were more direct in the second half and Freeman was alert to make vital saves on a number of occasions. Valley were forced to defend well as Bay searched for an equaliser. The introduction of Denzel Gayle who replaced Lisbie just after the hour contributed to Valley going close a couple of times as they sought a second to make the game safe. This never came and deep into added time, one last effort from Bay saw a Walder free kick on the edge of the box force Freeman into a good save low down which he did well to hold onto as others looked to take advantage of any slip. Final whistle and it finished 1-0 as Valley secured their second away league victory on 3G surfaces in 5 days.
