Millers v Sevenoaks Town

NIL - ONE - DEJA VU FOR BEATEN MILLERS

PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE SE DIV

CRAY VALLEY (PM) 0 SEVENOAKS TOWN 1 - 7 FEB 2023 - ATT 105
Goals ST - Solomon Baugh 45

Report by Steve Chapman

The Millers were unable to take advantage of one of their re-arranged fixtures as they failed to score for the third consecutive game and slumped to a third successive 1-0 loss in the process.

The visitors arrived to a bitterly cold evening at the Artic stadium with a well disciplined and organised team that set out to frustrate Cray from the outset. Once again, the Millers had the majority of possession throughout the game but struggled to breakdown Sevenoaks resolute defensive set up despite starting the match encouragingly.

After a frantic first 10 minutes, Ade Adeyemo crafted probably the best chance of the match and although his shot beat Oaks keeper Tyler McCarthy it was cleared off the line by the impressive Karn Miller- Neave. The only other real goal scoring opportunity of the first half from the home side was also by Adeyemo but he dragged his shot wide of the post.

With the game looking like being goalless at the interval, Soloman Baugh managed to scramble the ball in from close range at the back post in added time with what ended up being the winning goal.

In the second half Millers manager Tommy Osborne made several positive changes in an attempt to score that elusive goal but chances were few and far between with the Millers rarely troubling the Oaks goal before going close twice in added time. First a shot looking destined for the bottom corner was deflected just wide of the post, then after a succession of corner kicks, there were claims from the Millers that the ball had crossed the line for a late equaliser but nothing given. Consequently they suffered another frustrating narrow defeat.

The win pushed the Oaks up to 8th in the table and they are now only two points behind Cray who are still in a play off spot.
