CRAY VALLEY (PM) 5 FAVERSHAM TOWN 0 - 15th Nov 2022 - ATT 131
Goals: Douglas 6, Adeyemo 14, 58, 81, Williams 51
Report by Richard J Green
Ade Adeyemo struck a hat-trick as Valley secured a comfortable win against bottom of the table Faversham Town at the Artic Stadium.
Valley were quick out of the blocks but, as has been the case on many previous occasions this season, found an opposition goalkeeper in defiant form as Lillywhites’ custodian George Bently denied first Adeyemo, then Connor Dymond as the hosts forced two early corners.
From a third however, defender Antone Douglas fired into the roof of the net as the ball fell to him 15 yards out.
There was little Bentley could do however as Adeyemo extended the Valley lead after 14 minutes, the tall striker picking the ball up from Hassan Ibrahiym before slotting home.
Sonny Black – making an impact on his welcome return to the starting line-up – was denied when his 30 yard drive was saved low down by Bentley, before Ibrahiym rippled the side netting following a strong run from inside the Valley half.
As Tom Chambers and Finn O’Mara – with a clever back flip from close in – had efforts saved by Bentley before the interval, the only concern was that the visitors would break and notch the all important third goal of the game for all of Valley’s dominance.
Such concerns were allayed six minutes after the break however following a foul on Denzel Gayle on the edge of the Faversham area.
Ibrahiym’s free kick was played inside to Gayle who set Barney Williams up to fire his first goal in Millers green.
On the hour, it was four as Adeyemo added his second after being set up by Gayle.
A Valley rearguard that had been largely untroubled was finally breached some 20 minutes from time as Chris Lewington stood firm to deny an effort from Frankie Sawyer, but the action continued at the other end as those behind the Quaggy goal saw Bentley deny efforts from first Julien Anau, then Adeyemo’s follow up effort.
But Adeyemo was not to be denied his moment in the spotlight.
Anthony Edgar – returning to the side after a three month absence – drove down the right side touchline before finding Gayle, whose effort was again saved by Bentley – the ball falling into the path of Adeyemo who claimed the match ball.
