National South side Welling United are the visitors for this the Millers third and final home pre-season game, Away trips to East Grinstead Town and Chertsey Town follow the week after prior to the first Isthmian Premier league game, home to Dartford, on the 10th August,
Welling United: Manager Rod Stringer took over from Danny Bloor at the end of January with the Wings in the drop zone. He steered them to safety, eventually finishing 17th on 54 points from 46 games, a full 8 points clear of relegated Dartford in 21st place. Looking at the Wings recent pre-season, they drew 1-1 with Leyton Orient at Park View Road followed by two games at the weekend, a narrow 3-2 defeat at Dover Athletic on Saturday and a 5-0 win against Erith & Belvedere on the Sunday. One familiar face in their line up is likely to be centre back Teddy Perkins who started last season as a Miller under Steve McKimm before moving to Concord Rangers and later joining Welling United.
Previous `Meetings: The two sides last met for a pre-season game here at the Artic Stadium two years ago, the Wings coming out on top 3-1. They have met twice in the London Senior Cup, both times in the second round, firstly in 2013/14 with Cray Valley going through before being beaten in the semi-final by AFC Wimbledon. The second occasion was in 2016/17 when Cray Valley again triumphed, winning at Park View Road before going on to win the trophy for the first time beating Met Police in the Final, the first time the competition had been won by a step 5 team.
