Congratulations Malachy Turner who has signed first team forms for the Millers following a very successful season with the Cray Valley (PM) Isthmian U18 Youth side. He played a major part in helping Graham Knight's team to become last season's East Division and League Cup winners. A versatile player he played in all their 26 games scoring 18 goals from midfield.
18 year old Mal made five first team appearances last season, including a full league debut, starting at right back, in the game against Merstham in place of an injured Barney Williams. The other four were in various cups and he did get on the scoresheet at Chatham Town in the FA Trophy after coming on as a late substitute. He also gained experience with SECFL step 6 side Meridian where he was highly regarded.
Mal pictured with manager Steve McKimm played a full 90 minutes in last night's pre-season friendly at Corinthian and acquitted himself well. Steve made reference to Mal in his post match interview re-emphasising his confidence in him and explaining that the club will be looking this season to assist his development as a player. With that in mind a suitable club will be sought, probably at step 5, where he would be eligible to dual register to further his experience.
We wish Mal well and with his willingness to learn and develop there is every chance he has a bright future ahead of him, hopefully going on to wear the Millers shirt on a regular basis in future times.
